Overview

America’s car brand brings its mid-size SUV into the 21st century. The 2019 Ford Explorer has everything where it needs it, plus a little extra just for fun. With a standard third row of seating, there’s plenty of room for seven passengers to enjoy the latest in modern amenities; plus, drivers will enjoy the latest in performance and safety technology.

The Perfect Ride for…

Drivers who demand Ford-level performance and reliability at an attainable price. The 2019 Ford Explorer is available in five different trim levels, starting at just $32,365.* For a three-row SUV with a V6 engine, that’s pretty darn good. Not only does that price include the peace of mind that comes with owning a brand legendary for its reliability, it also includes a 3-year/36,000 mile limited basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000 mile limited warranty on the powertrain. With confident coverage like that, it’s a lot easier to rest easy at night.

Drive & Handling

The Explorer's 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine combines direct injection with a turbocharger to produce best-in-class power: 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. It also features standard Intelligent 4WD with the Terrain Management System™ plus Hill Descent Control™. Another great standard feature for this engine is the Class III Trailer Tow Package, which can tow up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped. This tow package includes AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, which selectively brakes and adjusts engine output to maintain trailer stability.

Key Features

Highest Quality Sound From Sony®

Whether you want sound with elegant precision or powerful volume, a premium Sony® sound system, featuring an arsenal of 12 loudspeakers with surround sound, comes standard on Explorer Limited and Sport packages. It produces immaculate sound quality, perfect for any music genre or listening experience. Taking things up a notch, the Explorer Platinum comes standard with Clear Phase and Live Acoustics™ technology, producing static-free and razor-sharp sound reception from a 500-watt amplifier.

Effortless Parking

The 2019 Explorer also comes with self-driving tech to make parking a breeze. The available Enhanced Active Park Assist uses the Explorer’s array of 12 ultrasonic sensors to scan for suitable parking spaces and even assist in backing the SUV into the spot. The driver simply shifts, accelerates, and brakes, and the Explorer takes care of the maneuvering. This cutting-edge system also includes park out assist, reverse perpendicular parking, as well as forward and side sensing systems.

Explore More With FordPass™

Thanks to Ford’s downloadable FordPass™ app, you can find, reserve, and pay for parking and even receive personal assistance from a live FordGuide agent. In addition, FordPass™ lets you compare fuel prices nearby and gives you important notifications about your Explorer, including recall announcements, service appointments, and vehicle status messages, all accessible through your paired smartphone.

Alternative Options

If the Explorer’s “middle” slot in the Ford SUV lineup doesn’t work for you, there are plenty of other options we're sure will suit your needs. The five-passenger Ford Escape is a smaller SUV that offers just as much all-terrain capability while those looking for more towing capacity and room for hauling should take a look at the F-150.
