The first is a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine that is paired with a 10-speed automotive with selectShift® capability. Power is sent to the rear wheels, and intelligent four-wheel drive is available. For those craving more performance, the next option is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost® V6 and standard Intelligent four-wheel drive. This powerful engine is standard in the all-new Ford Explorer ST. Finally, the third option should please anyone looking to reduce their carbon footprint. The 3.3-liter V6 is a naturally aspirated powertrain with hybrid technology and standard rear-wheel drive with available intelligent four-wheel drive.
The new rear-wheel drive platform and available intelligent four-wheel drive give the 2020 Ford Explorer improved handling and towing. Thanks to the available all-new Terrain Management System, drivers can choose up to seven selectable drive modes including normal, trail, deep snow/sand, slippery, sport, tow/haul, and eco mode. This system allows you to dial in the Explorer to respond to any conditions with confidence.
