2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan

Overview

There's no mistaking that Mercedes-Benz has diversified its lineup, with recent years seeing the German automaker roll out crossover SUVs and a new lineup of electric vehicles. But that doesn't mean it's turned its back on the classic sedans that have been the hallmark of Mercedes-Benz ownership. While the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan has been given a welcome modernized makeover, there's no denying that this newest edition has kept the most-coveted qualities of its predecessors as it enters its latest generation. Given the brand's vow to be all-electric by 2030, this could be the final internal combustion E-Class to roll off the line.

Who's It For?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan, like other E-Class models before it, is geared toward the affluent consumer who demands an executive vehicle but prefers the look and feel of a sedan over a luxury SUV.  Mercedes-Benz recognizes that it needs to appear cutting-edge if it is to appeal to the newest generation of drivers. To avoid turning off the current generation of E-Class enthusiasts, the latest line of E-Class vehicles continues to attract its fans with compelling engineering, performance, and lavish charm.

What's New for 2024?

For 2024, Mercedes-Benz has completely overhauled the E-Class sedan as a part of a major lineup restructuring. The E-Class is all-new from the ground up and better than ever. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan delivers hybrid power for the first time. Both the E350's four-cylinder and E450's six-cylinder engines are paired with a 23-hp electric motor, as the brand works to bridge the gap between electric motors and internal combustion engines. The result is a luxury sedan offering mild hybrid assistance with the ability to boost performance by 20 hp over short bursts of time.

Also new for 2024 is a screen located in front of the passenger's seat along with a camera to allow video calls when the car isn't in motion. Also new in tech for 2024 is the ability of the E-Class infotainment system to integrate with popular third-party apps on its center screen, including TikTok, Zoom, and Angry Birds.

Real World Performance

The 2.0-liter Miler-cycle four-cylinder on the E350 debuts for the E-Class and is the same engine featured in the C300. With the help of a 48-volt integrated starter generator (ISG), the 2024 model bids goodbye to belt-driven ancillaries, instead adding 20 hp and 195 lb.-ft of torque in certain situations to drive hp up to 255 with 295 lb.-ft of torque.

The identical ISG finds itself paired with the E450's 3.0-liter straight six-cylinder, increasing power to 375 for 2024, thanks in large part to an improved crankshaft, new intake, and a modified cylinder head. Torque remains at 369 lb.-ft for 2024. Engines in both the E350 and E450 are paired with the  9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission. Both models feature 4Matic all-wheel drive as standard.

Just as with other new Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the 2024 E-Class comes with available rear-axle steering, which turns the rear wheels up to 4.5 degrees in or out for better stability at high speeds and improved maneuverability at low speeds.
