At the heart of an S 450 is a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, which means it’s built for power and strength. Offering a more-than-ample 362 hp motor paired with 369 lb-ft of torque, the S-Class effortlessly glides down highways and up neighborhood streets with equal grace.
Choose your drive mode—Comfort, Eco, and Sport—to change multiple powertrain responsiveness parameters, or create a mode of your own, including the option for manual shifting only.
The lighter and more versatile 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission clocks 0-60 mph in a mere 5.4 seconds, and consistently presents 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway fuel economy. Improvements to the ignition and fuel injectors mean greater fuel efficiency and performance in this model than ever before.

ATTENTION ASSIST
Mercedes-Benz is up to date with the latest driver-assist technology, including ATTENTION ASSIST®, the first system of its kind. ATTENTION ASSIST is your safety guardian when on the road and monitors your driving behavior. If it detects signs of driver fatigue behind the wheel, like a change in steering behaviors or tactical errors based on your normal behaviors, it issues an alert. This groundbreaking system monitors up to 70 driving parameters, measured on the patterns of the drivers themselves.
CAR-TO-X COMMUNICATION
Every new S-Class can automatically alert a central notification system of certain dangers, from wrong-way drivers, emergency vehicles approaching from behind or from the side, and even hazard lights. The vehicle “sees” potentially dangerous obstacles before they are perceived by the driver, and warns the driver and other road users. Ultimately, it obtains information from points outside the driver's field of vision, which is not the case with conventional sensors. With Car-to-X in-dash displays or announcements, the system can alert other drivers on the road, making it safer for all of us.
