Drive & Handling
When you’re buying a wagon, you shouldn’t have to sacrifice performance, and Mercedes-Benz understands. The E 450 Wagon is no slouch, with a lively 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The acceleration can go toe to toe with other sedans in the Mercedes-Benz fleet, clocking in with 362 horsepower and reaching 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds.
The E 450 Wagon achieves 19 mpg and 26 mpg highway fuel economy with a new 3.0-liter V6. Twin turbos and other advances lower emissions and fuel consumption, such as a lightweight diecast-alloy block, reduced friction, and "on-demand'' ancillary components to increase efficiency.
An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations to save fuel and reduce emissions (the driver has the option to shut off this feature at any time). As you take your foot off the brake, the engine restarts without hesitation. The E-Class Wagon’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive integrates with ESP®, the proprietary Mercedes-Benz standard electronic stability program and four-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS®) for maximum confidence and control.

Mercedes-Benz is up to date with the latest driver-assist technology, including ATTENTION ASSIST®, the first system of its kind. ATTENTION ASSIST is your safety guardian when on the road and monitors your driving behavior. If it detects signs of driver fatigue behind the wheel, like a change in steering behaviors and tactical errors based on your normal behaviors, it issues an alert. This groundbreaking system monitors up to 70 driving parameters, measured on the patterns of the drivers themselves.
BREATHE EASIER WITH AIR PURIFICATION
Fresh air reduces fatigue, dry eyes, and headaches; Mercedes-Benz has your health in mind with an activated charcoal filtration system paired with an ionizer that creates a fresh-air sensation. Allergies got you down? This system also filters out impurities and allergens in the air to help you breathe easier.
CAR-TO-X COMMUNICATION
Every new S-Class can automatically alert a central notification system of certain dangers, from wrong-way drivers, emergency vehicles approaching from behind or from the side, and even hazard lights. The vehicle “sees” potentially dangerous obstacles before they are perceived by the driver, and warns the driver and other road users. Ultimately, it obtains information from points outside the driver's field of vision, which is not the case with conventional sensors. With Car-to-X in-dash displays or announcements, the system can alert other drivers on the road, making it safer for all of us.
