Drive & Handling
The 2021 XC60 is available with three powertrains, each of which can be paired with any of the model’s three trims. An eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive come standard with all models.
The base T5 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that generates 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine offers a healthy balance between performance and efficiency with an EPA-estimated 24 mpg combined (22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway).**
The T6 powertrain uses an enhanced version of the T5 with additional turbo- and supercharging for a power output of 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This engine is rated at 23 mpg combined (21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway).**
Finally, the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain combines an 87 horsepower rear electric motor to the T6 engine setup for a combined power output of 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. Opting for the hybrid XC60 will yield 26 mpg combined (26 mpg city, 28 mpg highway).**
