The Chrysler Pacifica seems to be stealing the spotlight every time we turn around, and this month is no different. The MotorWorld | MileOne Autogroup team is excited to provide details about the new Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, a minivan that’s both capable, comfortable, and clean.

Performance

The model weighs in at 250 pounds lighter than the gas-powered model, thanks in part to a lighter platform and aluminum doors and lift gate. Propelled by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes smart work of its fuel-saving Atkinson cycle, the Pacifica Hybrid powertrain also links to a twin electric motor that is capable of sending up to 260 horsepower to the front wheels, as well as a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

Expect to see up to 84 mpge when in full electric mode, and be prepared to go the distance, too.* While the Prius only gets about 11 miles on pure battery power, the hybrid Pacifica takes that number and nearly triples it. Once the gasoline engine roars to life, you’ll still benefit from fantastic gas mileage – up to 32 mpg to be exact (ten mpg more than the standard Pacifica!).

Power

So what sets the Pacifica Hybrid apart from other hybrid models? While other hybrids use one electric motor to recapture lost energy and another to propel the vehicle, Chrysler engineers have found a way to utilize both motors for traction which boosts power and efficiency.

The automatic transmission is able to vary gear ratios by changing the speeds of the engine, motor-generator, and electric traction motor at the same time to provide the efficiency of a CVT while eliminating the power lag associated with a continuously variable transmission.

Technology

Chrysler made sure to include the best technology in the new Pacifica Hybrid. Park with ease using the fully automated parallel and perpendicular parking system, entertain youngsters with 10-inch touch screens, and stay safe with automated safety warnings.

You can also remotely charge your Pacifica Hybrid in just two hours when connected to a 240-volt Level 2 charger. Connect to the Uconnect app and program your Pacifica to charge at off-times.
