Where To Go For Your Kids' Spring Break

With Spring break coming up in the next month for many US families, it’s time to start planning and looking at places to go. Whether you’re looking to relax on a beach, learn something new at a museum, or take a hike through the mountains, this list will have something for you. Check out our list of options that will be fun for the whole family:

Cherry Blossom Festivals

Washington D.C. is a beautiful place to visit and has museums of all kinds for every member of the family to enjoy. But perhaps the best time to go is sometime between March 22nd and April 14th, when The National Cherry Blossom Festival is in full bloom. Parades, fundraisers, and of course the beautiful flowers will appeal to everyone. Similarly, the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco features tons of fun activities to honor and learn about Japanese heritage. Go check out the drum festivals, tea ceremonies, and Japanese doll making demonstrations.

National Parks

There are so many beautiful national parks all over the country. If you and your family don’t want to take an overnight trip, find a park nearby to go hiking or picnicking just for the day. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee is the country’s most popular national park. Out west, Glacier National Park in Montana has scenic mountains and lakes, and Olympic National Park in Washington has almost one million acres of forests perfect for hiking. Visit the National Park Service website for more information about these and other parks across the country.

Beaches

There are so many beautiful beaches all over the country; picking which one to visit can be tough! If you’re looking for a relaxing beach vacation, Hilton Head Island in South Carolina has plenty to offer, including twelve miles of beautiful beaches perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, and bike rides on the boardwalk. There’s also plenty of golf courses and tennis courts for non-beach days. Another great beach to try is Monterey in California. It was ranked as one of the top affordable honeymoon destinations in the USA. You can visit the Old Fisherman's Wharf and have a bowl of clam chowder while watching seals swim in the bay.

Music Festivals

Musical festivals are fun for everyone, and some even have kid-friendly areas. The Savannah Music Festival in Georgia gets down from March 28th to April 13th and features a wide variety of music, including orchestras, jazz band competitions, quartets, pianists, and bands of all kinds. Savannah also offers lots of scenic sightseeing locations, beaches within driving distance, and historical tours. The Joshua Tree Music Festival in California features bands from all over the world and even has an area for kids called "kidville." This festival lasts from May 17th to the 20th.

Zoos

The San Diego Zoo features 650 species and subspecies with about 3,700 animals in total. It has immersive experiences like the "Keeper for the Day" experience, which allows families a behind-the-scenes look at zoo life and caring for the animals. Another beautiful city with plenty to offer, Nashville is sure to have activities perfect for the whole family. Nashville is generally thought to only have music bands and guitar shops, but it has so much more to offer. Tour Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage or the Lane Motor Museum, or get outside and visit the Adventureworks Zipline Forest or the Nashville Zoo.

Historic Towns

Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia is full of rich history that will appeal to both kids and adults. It is a fully immersive experience that will teach kids about history and allow them to pretend they live in the 18th century. You can dress up in authentic historical attire (or just the hats) and take carriage rides over the cobblestone streets. Boston is another beautiful historic town that will interest the whole family. Follow the Freedom Trail to learn about Revolutionary history and marvel at the historic architecture.

With so many beautiful places it may be hard to choose, but wherever you and your family end up going over spring break, make sure to have fun and be safe!
