September 2015 is Hunger Action Month!

Hall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is stepping it up!

The month of September is a very important time of the year for the food banks and hunger relief agencies across the country to ensure the shelves are stocked before the beginning of the holiday season. With the higher number of unemployed parents this year, families are struggling to keep food on the table and in more need of help. So, with demand higher than ever before, September has become critical and “Hunger Action Month” has become necessary. Organized by Feeding America®, the campaign brings greater attention to the issue of hunger in America and promotes ways for individuals everywhere to get involved with the movement to solve it locally.

Hall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, (HCDJR) has teamed up again with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, (FSEVA) and is filling up the bed of a new 2015 Hemi Ram Sport 1500 4x4 with food. HCJDR General Manager, Abby Meeks and the FSEVA’s Donor Engagement Coordinator, Taylor Miller got together September 3rd to kick off the September food drive. At the end of the month, Hall will deliver the food collected to the FSEVA’s office which is located at 800 Tidewater Drive in downtown Norfolk and will meet with the Donor Relations Manager for FSEVA, Debbie Mergi.

The relationship HCDJR has with FSEVA originally started though HCDJR’s sponsorship of the Tidewater Mopar Club, (TMC) back in 2008. For over 7 years HCDJR has supported TMC by helping with the Hall/TMC Mopar Car Show that were first held at the dealership then later on at the Tidewater Community College Regional Automotive Center in Chesapeake, VA. Hall also sponsors TMC’s biggest car show, “Mopar Madness” which is held at the drag strip at Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie, VA which is held in “Hunger Action Month” of September. The money raised from the show car registrations and donations collected during those shows are donated to FSEVA in one big check for FSEVA’s “Mayflower Marathon” in November!

This “Hunger Action Month” success story is a stellar example of what can be done when a local car club and business teams up to use its resources to help make a difference in the community.
