2016 Chrysler Town & Country

New for 2016

A special Anniversary Edition Town & Country helps commemorate Chrysler's 90th Anniversay, and includes a power sunroof, heated front and second-row seating, a heated steering wheel, and special badging.

Still Going Strong

Automotive history buffs will remember the Chrysler Town & Country as one of the first minivans ever made. Despite a career spanning almost three decades, Chrysler's family friendly people mover has retained a competitve edge over the competition, and is still going strong thanks to a luxuriously appointed interior, practical features, and smart styling. The 2016 Chrysler Town & Country continues that trend, offering families and drivers more of what they love at an attractive price.

Powertrain and Performance

There is only one available powertrain option on the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country, but it covers all of the bases.

The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is a two-time Ward’s “10 Best Engines” winner, and is shared with a multitude of other Chrysler products. In the Town & Country, it produces a stout 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and drives the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick manual shifting.

In addition to hauling around the Town & Country’s considerable bulk with aplomb, this powertrain gets an EPA-rated 20 mpg combined (17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway).*

Features and Trims

The 2016 Chrysler Town & Country minivan seats up to seven and is available in six distinct trim levels, with prices starting at $29,995.**

Starting with "base" LX model, the  2016 Town & Country comes standard with leather-trimmed front bucket seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an overhead console and storage bins, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen display.

The first step up from the LX model is the Touring. Each subsequent model builds on the one before by incorporating its standard features, and adding a few more.

In the case of the Touring, that includes a power driver’s seat, DVD entertainment system, video remote control, and wireless headphones, among other features.

Next up is the Town & Country S, which gets unique styling in the form of black leather seats, a black-finished panel bezel, and black chrome grille. It also adds a third-row overhead 9-inch video screen and Super Console storage.

Surpassing the S is the Touring L, which adds a standard removable front-seat center console, Dark Maple wood trim, power multi-function exterior mirrors with auto dimming on the driver’s side, and other features.

The penultimate Town & Country trim level is the Limited which, on top of the applicable standard features from the preceding models, includes heated front and second-row seats, a power-folding third row, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, Garmin navigation system, and 17-inch polished painted alloy wheels.

Sitting atop the Town & Country lineup is the Limited Platinum. It ups the level of luxury with Nappa leather seats, a memory feature for the power driver’s seat, dual overhead rear consoles, power-adjustable pedals with memory, and a wood-and-leather wrapped steering wheel.

Design

There is a long-held stigma that Minivans can't be exciting when it comes to their exterior design, but that simply isn't the case with the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country. While it's no sports car, Chrysler's latest Town & Country sports a distinctive styling that will leave customers happy for years to come.

Indeed, the Town & Country's wide grille and winged Chrysler logo look just as good on this minivan as they do on the handsome Chrysler 300 and 200 sedans, and the Town & Country features nicely creased sheetmetal that contrasts the bulbous flanks of many vehicles of its type.

On the inside, the Town & Country features some upscale style, including leather seats and available wood trim for the dashboard and steering wheel. It can also be optioned out with a variety of overhead and center-console storage bins, including a Super Console with a pass-through for larger items.

Audio and navigation systems provide plenty of infotainment functionality, including available Uconnect® voice control. Rear entertainment systems are also available to help pacify kids.

The Town & Country also features Chrysler’s Stow n’ Go seating system, which allows the rear seats to fold into the floor to create a completely cargo space. When the seats are up, there are useful storage areas in the floor.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country includes anti-lock brakes, stability and traction controls, a rearview camera, and a full array of airbags. There are also several optional driver-assist features—including a park-assist system and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection—in the SafetyTec option group, which also includes automatic high-beam headlights and rain-sensitive windshield wipers.

Bottom Line

There is a reason the Chrysler Town & Country has been ferrying families to and fro for nearly three decades. Its potent mix of handsome styling, luxurious appointments, and all-around versatility continue to make it a smart choice for families.
