2016 Dodge Viper ACR Reclaims Ultimate Track-Car Legacy
2016 Viper lineup also includes exclusive colors and expanded options
Don’t call it a comeback. The Viper ACR (American Club Racer) may be returning for 2016 after an extended hiatus, but it’s doing so with credentials intact. When it arrives, the new Viper ACR will claim the title of fastest street-legal Viper track car ever—and that’s just the beginning of Dodge’s updates for the new model year.
The automaker is also introducing matte-finish exterior paint to the list of available options, bringing the number of potential Viper customizations over 50 million. With over 16,000 unique paint options and 48,000 stripe combinations, it’s easy to make a Viper that feels like your own. And given the history of Dodge’s hand-built supercar, that just feels right.
Fans of high-performance American track cars have been waiting for the Viper ACR’s return since it bowed in the 2010 model year. Rest assured that the wait has been worth it. The new model has been upgraded with Dodge’s latest aerodynamic and suspension advances, giant Brembo® Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes, and custom Kuhmo high-performance tires.
Of course, a car this one-of-a-kind deserves something special under the hood, and the ACR doesn’t disappoint. The 645 horsepower 8.4-liter V10 cranks out 600 pounds-feet of torque—the most of any naturally aspirated sports-car engine in the world.
After the ACR’s initial release, Dodge will introduce the optional ACR Extreme Aero Package, adding another layer to a modern classic. The package includes adjustable dual-element carbon fiber rear wing, rear carbon fiber diffuser, and unique SRT hood, plus extra dive planes and a detachable extension for the front splitter. The result? Nearly one ton of peak downforce at top speed, and a ride that you won’t find anywhere else.
