2024 Kia Sorento

SCHEDULE A TEST DRIVE

Overview

While Kia is no stranger to the mid-sized SUV category, the Sorento offers more versatility than its other popular models, making it a very practical choice for buyers wanting choices. Those selections begin with the 2024 Sorento's three powertrain options—including a hybrid. The 2024 Sorento fits snugly into Kia's SUV lineup, between the larger Telluride and the smaller Sportage. Although considered a mid-size SUV due to its size, the 2024 Sorento features something many mid-size SUVs do not—a third row of seats. The current generation of Sorento was introduced with the 2021 model year, but the Sorento is undergoing a major style update for 2024. The 2024 Kia Sorento will be offered in eight trim levels: LX, S, EX, X-Line EX AWD, SX, X-Line SX AWD, X-Line SX Prestige AWD, and X-Pro SX Prestige AWD.

Who's It For?

With its third row of seating and multiple configurations, buyers may navigate to Kia's 2024 Sorento for clearly utilitarian reasons. Families will appreciate the extra passenger space and the third row of seats is most accommodating to passengers who don't need a lot of legroom. That's not to say Kia Sorento owners won't also appreciate the newly revamped interior, premium materials, and other luxury touches. The Sorento is about more than just functionality and owners will appreciate the responsiveness and ease of handling.

What's New for 2024?

The latest non-hybrid Sorento models roll off the line with a mid-cycle refresh, primarily in the looks department. The 2024 Sorento boasts a fresh front grille and reworked taillights that distinguish it from previous models. Inside, the Sorento's dashboard and infotainment setting are all-new, while the X-Line and X-Pro trims give the Sorento a strong, rugged look. Look for the hybrid models to enter 2024 unfettered but expect some styling changes in 2025 models.

Real World Performance

The base model offers a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. The model sports an eight-speed automatic transmission with standard front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. This configuration maximizes efficiency for those who don’t need more premium performance. Those who seek more thrills and need more from their SUV should consider the available 2.5-liter turbocharged engine option, that boosts power to 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Those who want efficiency above all else should explore the Sorento Hybrid, which produces 195 horsepower from a 1.6 liter Turbocharged 4-cylinder and Full Parallel Hybrid System, for up to 39 mpg.**

No matter which model you choose, the Sorento delivers a fun and responsive ride thanks to Drive Mode Select, which gives drivers the power to choose how the Sorento responds in various environments. Features like torque vectoring all-wheel drive, hill start assist, and independent suspension work to create an SUV that is ready for almost anything. Towing capacity ranges from 2,000 to 4,500 pounds, depending on configuration, making the Sorento great for those who want to tow their toys on their next adventure too.
