There really is almost something for everybody in the Brainerd Lakes Area when it comes to upcoming events in March, April and May.

You can choose from art, playing golf on a frozen lake, music, comedy, beekeeping, food, celebrations, theatre, home projects, a performance driving school, arts/crafts and car shows…just to name a few.   

Don’t fret if you miss a date as some events are reoccurring weekly or monthly.

Here’s a sampling of some events: 

Introduction to Beekeeping, Saturday, Feb. 25, noon to 3 PM, Northland Arboretum Visitor Center, Brainerd. Larry Chismar covers basics of beginning with hiving bee packages in the spring to harvesting honey in the fall. Advanced registration required. Cost: $20 Arboretum members; $25 non-members. BIR Racer Awards Banquet, Saturday, Feb. 25, 5:30 PM, Cragun’s Resort, Gull Lake, Brainerd. Top racers from the 2016 season are recognized, including champions in drag racing and muscle car series. Cost: $38 adults, plus cost of dinner. Call 218-824-7223.

Growing Orchids at Home, Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7 PM, Northland Arboretum, Brainerd. Local award-winning orchid growers Ross and Julie Hella will cover basic of home growing orchids and participants will plant a seedling to take home. Cost: $20 Arboretum members; $25 non-members. Call 218-829-8770.

Ms. Blarney and Mr. Malarkey St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Prince and Princess Pageant, Saturday, March 4, 8 PM, Manhattan Beach Lodge. 

17th Annual Downtown Brainerd St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, Saturday, March 11, 11:30 AM to 3 pm, 7th and Laurel, Brainerd. Activities include a kids’ costume contest, medallion hunt with $250 grand prize and parade at 1 PM.

43rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Celebration, Saturday, March 18, Crosslake. Activities include pub crawl, treasure hunt, hot air balloon tether rides, pancake breakfast, 5K run, parade at 2 pm, raffle prize drawings and more. Call 218-692-4027.
