Ford Motor Company is a manufacturer that not only provides class-leading vehicles, but that also serves our country and the communities that knit our great nation together. We at Mills Ford Chrysler are extremely proud to be a part of the Ford family and want to spread the word about Ford’s partnership with the Disabled American Veterans.

It all started in 1919 when Henry Ford hired disabled veterans who were returning from World War I. In 1922, he organized a cross-country trip that took disabled veterans to the DAV National Convention in 50 Model Ts. Ever since, Ford has loyally supported the DAV.

This year, Ford is donating eight Ford Flex vehicles to provide even more support for disabled veterans who may otherwise struggle to receive the medical care they need. These eight vehicles will become part of the DAV Transportation Network which is composed of volunteers who drive veterans to VA medical centers across the country.

Over the past twenty years, over 200 vehicles have been donated by Ford, and just last year, Ford vehicles helped 716,000 veterans reach their medical appointments.

These heroic men and women are a powerful inspiration for Americans of all ages. We salute their courage and perseverance, and we’re proud to help them overcome mobility challenges with vehicles and rides that could improve the quality of their lives.

- Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services.

Ford’s work with the DAV doesn’t stop there. Through Ford Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, the manufacturer continues to support the DAV’s Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship that provides grants to young members of communities across the country who have volunteered their time and provided unparalleled service to the disabled veterans in their cities.

The National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic, a rehabilitation program held in the Colorado mountains, gives severely injured veterans the chance to improve their well-being through fun activities, including skiing, skating, and rock climbing. Ford is proud to sponsor this annual event and also provides support with other programs, including Nurse Assistant Training and the nationwide program “Trading One Uniform for Another.”

Today, Ford employs over 6,000 veterans and hundreds of active military personnel and reservists.
