The 2023 Porsche Taycan is a reflection of the immense change facing the automobile industry today as EVs start to compete with traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. As expected, Porsche takes existing electric vehicle technology and turns up the dial. The AC permanent synchronous motor gives drivers 240 kW of power or 321 hp. With Launch Control engaged, the Taycan boasts 300 kW of power or 402 hp.
The 2-speed transmission built on the car's rear axle features the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system for greater agility and stability. The Porsche Recuperation Management (PRM) system helps drivers regenerate up to 90% of the energy they use through braking with recuperation output of up to 265 kW.
Drivers may change the responsiveness of their Taycan by choosing one of four performance modes: Sport Mode, Range Mode, Launch Control, and Power Steering Plus. The 2023 Porsche Taycan features two storage spaces at the front and the back because the AC permanent synchronous motor sits on the rear axle rather than in a space under the front hood or in the rear trunk area. The "frunk," or front luggage compartment, is 2.9 cu. ft. The truck or rear luggage compartment is 14.3 cu. ft.
For safety and security, Porsche Taycan drivers enjoy comprehensive airbags that surround the cabin and a Warn and Brake Assist option that may help drivers avoid a collision.
