The auto industry is taking new strides in safety enhancement in a category that's of the utmost importance: the ability to see the road.

For the first time, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), tested headlights on the new 2016 model cars. This is a huge step forward in auto safety, as the study is more than likely the beginning of what will become standard testing in conjunction with the standard crash tests.

Clear vision of the road, other vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and debris is an absolute necessity for safe driving. The IIHS test provides new insights into the importance of headlight illumination. Additional tests like this may help safety experts understand what will make the best headlight systems and provide us with more stringent regulations in illumination, subsequently making it easier (and safer) for drivers to navigate the night.

That's incredibly important, since nearly half of traffic deaths occur either in the dark or in low-light conditions like dawn or dusk. Improved headlights have the potential to significantly reduce the number of those fatalities.

Here at Cutter Automotive Galleries, we're dedicated to keeping our drivers safe. That's why we have plenty of resources to help you do just that. Contact us to learn more.
