As a leader in innovation, technology, and performance, we expect big things from Mazda in 2019. From impressive innovations in fuel efficiency and engine dynamics to wider technology offerings and successful motorsports endeavors, Mazda is already poised to outdo itself in 2019. Here are a few of the biggest changes and events coming to the automaker already named U.S News & World Report’s 2019 Best Car Brand.*

Lineup Changes

Mazda has revamped a few of its models for the new year. The 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata gets a bump in power with engine refinements that resulted in a 17 percent increase in horsepower and improved fuel efficiency over last year’s model. The automaker has also increased safety technology and reduced weight in certain areas, like the steering column, to improve this already-agile roadster’s phenomenal handling capability.

The CX-3, CX-5, and CX-9 also get upgraded features, like ventilated from seats and Sirius XM Travel Link® Services in the CX-9 and available Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ in the CX-9 Touring and higher trim levels; a new trim level, Signature, with high-quality interior, an optional turbocharged SKYACTIV-2.5T engine, and new G-Vectoring Control Plus technology for the CX-5; and an electronic parking brake, redesigned center console and armrest, and a refined SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter engine for the CX-3.

With the release of the all-new SKYACTIV-X engine, Mazda needed a fitting car to introduce the breakthrough innovation to the market. Enter the 2019 Mazda3. A sleek new interior and exterior are wrapped around the SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture. This intuitive design embraces the natural sense of balance and is centered around the driver, making the new Mazda3 more in tune with the people inside it than ever before.

Technology for the Future

The SKYACTIV-X engine debuting in the new Mazda3 is one of the biggest revolutions in gasoline-powered engines since Mazda’s legendary rotary engine. This proprietary new engine is built around the combustion ignition platform found in diesel engines, but it utilizes gasoline to offer the best of both worlds. What results is a gasoline-powered engine that uses a fraction of the fuel of traditional combustion engines with the high-revving ability of a gasoline engine and the efficiency and torque of a diesel-powered engine.

Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ aren’t just features you should make sure you have on your next Mazda. The carmaker now offers a dealer-installed upgrade on vehicles model year 2014 or newer that are equipped with MAZDA CONNECT™ infotainment system. You don’t have to have a brand-new vehicle to enjoy the latest technology and connectivity. Contact the service department at Cutter Automotive Galleries today for more information.

Race to the Podium

No automaker embraces drivers and racers quite as deliberately as Mazda. The entire lineup consists of driver-oriented vehicles, so it's no surprise that Mazda also embraces racing. With improvements to the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata, the 2019 Mazda Global MX-5 Cup will reflect the changes. A Bosch Motorsport ECU—as well as cooling, transmission, and electronic system upgrades—will complement the new horsepower gains for the MX-5. Mazda is also sponsoring several Indy car drivers in the 2019 race season, providing funds that will help them reach new career goals in racing. The automaker also has its eye on the podium in the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, hoping for an even more successful year than 2018.

…And This Is Just The Beginning

Mazda is kicking off the new year with a bang, and this is just the beginning. With intentions to expand fuel-efficiency, hybrid technology, and more, we couldn’t be part of the Mazda family during a more exciting time in the brand’s history.
