First Friday Art Walk

Join old friends and new as you enjoy one of the area's most popular events on September 2. Head to Chinatown for a stroll through art galleries and shops and enjoy the live entertainment before you stop for a bite at one of the nearby restaurants. This free event runs from 5 - 9 PM, but the fun continues into the night on the streets, so grab a friend and make some memories.

Royal Court Investiture and Opening Ceremony

On September 3, 2016, witness the introduction of the Aloha Festivals Royal Court in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center from 3 - 5 PM. Kings, Queens, and royal family of the past will be in attendance, and the elaborate ceremony is complete with detailed costumes, traditional chants, and hula performances. There's no better way to kick off the start of other Hawaiian heritage festivals going on later in the month.

34th Annual Okinawan Festival

From September 3 - 4, make your way to Kapiolani Park for a large display of arts and crafts, live entertainment, and plenty of games and activities for children. Once you've worked up an appetite, order some of the delicious Okinawan food (including andagi). This free event runs from 9 AM - 10 PM Saturday and 9 AM - 5 PM Sunday.

70th Annual Aloha Festival

Celebrate our rich culture with traditional Hawaiian dance, music, food, and art. Over 100,000 people will be in attendance; you don't want to miss this long-standing tribute to Hawaii! The free event will be held at Pearlridge Center on September 10 from 10 AM - 3 PM.

4th Annual Waimea Valley Kalo and Awa Festival

If you want to learn more about the rich lands of Hawaii, head to this festival in the Waimea Valley Main Lawn from 9 AM - 4 PM on September 10. You'll see how farmers work with our land to provide the tastes we've always loved. There will be huli giveaways, live music, fun entertainment, and kalo and awa samplings.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved around the community this September. If there’s an event we missed that you’d like to share, let us know
